About the compress pdf tool
File size limits are everywhere in Indian business paperwork. Most GST portal attachments must be under 5 MB. Bank KYC portals and tender sites often cap uploads at 2 to 5 MB. WhatsApp allows 100 MB but a 40 MB scan crawls on mobile data and the recipient gives up. Scanners and phone cameras produce PDFs at 300 dpi colour, so a ten-page purchase bill can easily be 25 MB. Compress PDF brings such files down to a size that actually uploads.
The usual workaround is re-scanning at a lower setting or screenshotting pages, which loses readability. Limits and formats
- GST portal: most attachments are limited to 5 MB in PDF or JPEG; some registration documents have smaller caps, so check the field's hint on the portal.
- WhatsApp: documents up to 100 MB are allowed, but anything above 10 MB is slow on mobile data; aim for under 5 MB.
- Email: Gmail and most corporate mail servers reject attachments above 25 MB in total.
- Compression works on images inside the PDF; text-only PDFs such as VyaparKit invoices are already near their minimum size and will barely change.
- Strong compression lowers image resolution; check that small print, stamps and signatures are still legible before uploading.
- Input limit is 10 MB on Free and 100 MB on Pro; a file that is already over the Free limit needs Pro or a split first.

- How much will Compress PDF reduce my file?
- It depends on what is inside. Scanned or photo-heavy PDFs commonly shrink by 60 to 90 percent on Balanced, more on Strong. Text-based PDFs with no images are already compact and may change by only a few percent. The result panel shows the exact before and after size.
- Will compression make my invoice unreadable?
- Light and Balanced keep text crisp because text is not rasterised; only embedded images are downsampled. Strong reduces image resolution noticeably, so stamps, small handwriting and photographed signatures may soften. Preview the download before submitting it anywhere official.
- What is the file size limit for GST portal uploads?
- Most GST portal attachments accept PDF or JPEG up to 5 MB per document. Certain registration fields have smaller limits. Compress with Balanced first and, if the result is still above the cap, run Strong as a second pass or split the document.
- Can I compress a PDF more than once?
- Yes, but with diminishing returns. A second pass on Strong may trim a little more, though images that are already low resolution will not shrink further. If you are still over a limit, consider splitting the file or removing unneeded pages.
- Does compressing count as a separate operation from merging?

- Is my compressed PDF kept on your servers?
