About the shipping labels tool
A shipping label tells everyone who handles a parcel where it came from and where it is going. For self-shipped orders and local couriers in India, it carries the consignee's name, full address with a 6-digit pincode and a mobile number the delivery agent can call, plus the sender's details for returns, the order number, weight and a clear COD amount or PREPAID mark. A barcode for the order number and a QR with the customer's phone make sorting and calling faster.
Hand-written labels are hard to read, pincodes get transposed, and a missing phone number means a failed delivery attempt and a return-to-origin charge. Word templates need retyping for every customer. This tool prints the sender block from your business profile automatically, lets you pick each recipient from saved customers or paste an address, adds the order or AWB reference as a barcode, and stamps COD: Collect Rs X or PREPAID in large text. Choose 2, 4 or 8 labels per A4 sheet and print the number of copies you need.
Customers you ship to are the same customers on your invoices, so the address only needs to be entered once. Pair the label with a packing list or dispatch note from VyaparKit inside the parcel.
How to create shipping labels

Pick the recipient
For each parcel, choose a saved customer from the dropdown or select Type address manually and enter the name, address line, city, state, PIN and phone on separate lines.

Add parcel details
Fill in Order / AWB ref, which prints as a Code 128 barcode, Weight such as 1.2 kg, and COD in rupees; leave COD blank for a prepaid parcel. Set Copies if the courier needs more than one label.

Add more parcels
Click Another parcel to add rows for the rest of the day's dispatches; each row becomes its own label.

Choose the label size
Select 2 per sheet (A5), 4 per sheet (A6) or 8 per sheet (99x67 mm). Your business address prints as the sender; update it in Settings if it has changed.

Generate and stick
Click Generate labels, print at 100% scale, and apply the label on the largest flat face of the parcel with the barcode uncovered by tape.
What a shipping label must show
- Consignee name, complete address with landmark, city, state and 6-digit pincode
- Consignee mobile number; delivery agents call before attempting delivery
- Sender (From) name, address and phone for returns and RTO
- Order number or courier AWB number, printed as a barcode for scanning at hubs
- COD amount to collect in rupees, or PREPAID in bold, so the agent knows whether to collect cash
- Weight and, for heavy parcels, dimensions, so the courier bills correctly
- Handling marks such as Fragile or This side up where relevant
- A GST invoice or bill of supply inside or attached; an e-way bill is needed for consignments above ₹50,000 in most cases

Shipping Labels: frequently asked questions
- Can I use these labels with Delhivery, Blue Dart or Shiprocket?
- For shipments booked through a courier's system or an aggregator like Shiprocket, use the label their portal generates, because it carries their AWB barcode and routing codes. VyaparKit labels are for self-shipping, local couriers, India Post bookings and hand deliveries where you supply the label yourself.
- What size should a shipping label be?
- A6 (105x148 mm, 4 per A4 sheet) is the common courier size and fits most boxes. Use A5 (2 per sheet) for large cartons that need bigger text, and 99x67 mm (8 per sheet) for small poly bags and envelopes. All three print on plain A4 paper or self-adhesive sheets.
- Is a phone number compulsory on a courier label?
- Couriers do not always mandate it, but a missing number is the most common reason for a failed delivery in India, since agents call to locate the address. Include the consignee's mobile every time. Saved customers with a phone number also get a tel: QR on the label that the rider can scan to dial.
- How should I mark a cash on delivery parcel?
- Print the exact amount to collect on the label, which the tool does as COD: Collect Rs X in a highlighted footer. Parcels without an amount print PREPAID so the agent does not ask the customer for money. Match the COD amount to the invoice total inside the parcel.
- Do I need an e-way bill for parcels sent by courier?
- An e-way bill is required for the movement of goods worth more than ₹50,000 in most cases, whether by courier, transporter or your own vehicle, with some exemptions for specific goods and intra-state thresholds in certain states. For typical small parcels under this value, the invoice or bill of supply inside is enough. Confirm with your CA for your goods.
