Tips for a good result

- Keep opacity between 15 and 35 percent for scanned documents; higher values can hide small print that a bank officer needs to read.

- Image watermarks are placed on every page; a logo with a transparent background avoids a white rectangle.

- What should I write on an Aadhaar copy given for KYC?
- State the purpose, the recipient and the date, for example 'For Jio SIM KYC only, 14-09-2026'. This makes the copy useless for any other application. Combine it with masking the first eight Aadhaar digits using Redact PDF for extra protection, which UIDAI recommends.
- Can the watermark be removed by the person I send the file to?
- It is written into the page content, so it cannot be turned off in a viewer, and it survives printing and photocopying. Someone with PDF editing software could attempt to remove it, so treat it as a deterrent and purpose marker rather than an unbreakable seal.
- Does the watermark appear on every page or just the first?
- Every page. Text and image watermarks are placed at the same position, size and opacity on all pages of the document, which is what you want for multi-page statements or catalogues.
- What opacity should I use for a text watermark?

- Can I use my business logo as a watermark?

- Is watermarking a quotation the same as marking it as a proforma invoice?
