About the add signature to pdf tool
Quotations, purchase orders, rent agreements, vendor declarations and delivery confirmations are still expected to carry a signature in India, even when everything else is digital. Printing a PDF, signing it and scanning it back is slow and produces a blurry, oversized file. Add Signature to PDF lets you place your signature image on the exact spot, on one or many pages, and download a clean signed copy in seconds.
Be clear about what this is. The tool adds a picture of your signature to the page. It is fine for commercial documents where the parties accept signed scans, which covers most quotations, invoices, challans and internal approvals. It is not a Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) or Aadhaar-based eSign, so it does not satisfy GST portal filings, MCA forms or income tax returns that require DSC or EVC. Where a statutory portal demands a DSC, use your DSC token there.
Signing works with everything else in VyaparKit. Documents generated in the app can already carry the signature saved in your business profile; this tool is for PDFs that come from elsewhere, such as a customer's purchase order or a supplier's agreement. Sign, then protect the PDF with a password or add a 'SIGNED COPY' watermark before sending.
How to add a signature to a PDF in VyaparKit

Sign in and upload
Log in with Google or email OTP and drop the PDF on the upload box. Page thumbnails load with arrows to move between pages.

Create your signature
Under 'Your signature', choose Draw and sign with a finger, mouse or stylus (Clear to retry), or choose Upload image and drop a PNG or JPG of your signature. A transparent PNG looks best.

Place it
Click on the page preview where the signature should sit. Click on other pages to add more placements. Use Remove to clear a page's placements.

Set the size
Adjust the Signature width slider (10 to 50 percent of the page width) until it looks right; all placements update together.

Click Sign & download. The signature is drawn into the page content and the signed PDF is served once, then discarded from memory.
Limits and formats
- This is an image signature. It is not a DSC (Digital Signature Certificate) and not Aadhaar eSign, and does not carry a cryptographic certificate.
- GST returns, GST registration, MCA filings and ITR verification need DSC or EVC/OTP on the respective portal; an image signature is not accepted there.
- For commercial documents, the Indian Evidence Act and IT Act generally treat scanned or image signatures as evidence of intent; the other party's acceptance matters, so check with your CA or lawyer for high-value contracts.
- Upload signatures as a transparent PNG for a clean look; a JPG on white paper will show a white box.
- Placements are burnt into the page content, so the signature cannot be moved by the recipient, but a determined person can still copy the image; combine with Password Protect PDF where that matters.
- Files up to 10 MB or 50 pages on Free, 100 MB or 1000 pages on Pro; one signing run covers all placements on all pages as a single PDF operation.

Add Signature to PDF: frequently asked questions
- Is an image signature on a PDF legally valid in India?
- For most commercial documents, a scanned or image signature is widely accepted as evidence of the signer's intent, in the same way a signed and scanned paper copy is. It is not a digital signature under the IT Act, so it does not carry a certificate. For high-value contracts or anything a court may scrutinise, check with your CA or lawyer.
- Can I use this to sign GST returns or ITR?
- No. GST and income tax portals require a DSC token or EVC/OTP verification; they do not accept a PDF with an image signature. Use this tool for commercial documents such as quotations, purchase orders and agreements, and use your DSC or EVC on the statutory portals.
- How do I make a signature with a transparent background?
- Sign on plain white paper with a dark pen, photograph it in good light, and use a background remover or your phone's cutout feature to export a PNG with transparency. Alternatively use the Draw option here, which produces a transparent signature automatically.
- Can I sign every page of a PDF at once?
- Click on each page where you want the signature; placements are remembered per page and all use the same size. A single Sign & download then writes every placement into one signed PDF as one operation. Initialling every page of a long agreement works this way.
- Can someone remove my signature from the signed PDF?
- The signature is merged into the page content rather than added as a movable layer, so it cannot be dragged off in a viewer. It can still be edited by someone with PDF editing software, as with any scanned signature. Protect the PDF with a password if you want to prevent changes.
- Does VyaparKit keep my signature image?
- Not from this tool. The drawn or uploaded signature and the PDF are used in memory for the signing operation and discarded. If you want a signature that appears automatically on invoices and other documents, save it once in your business profile instead.
